An Analysis of Factors Influencing Slang Language in Jumanji Movie

Abstract

This study analyzed slang words and factors that influence the use of slang in Jumanji: The Next Level movie. The purpose of this research were to determine the type of slang of the main character use in the jumanji movie and the factors that influencing the slang existence in jumanji movie.The research methodology was descriptive qualitative. The object of research was the movie Jumanji: The Next Level. The research instrument was the researcher himself and its script. Data collection techniques analysis transcripts and documentation. The data analysis technique was conducted by analyzing the transcript data while watching the object of his research and categorized it. The results of this study are there are 5 types of slang found, namely fresh and creative, flippant, acronym, imitative, and clipping along with their meanings and there are 7 factors that influence the existence of slang in this movie, namely to address, establish an intimate atmosphere, to start a casual conversation, to show an impression, to show intimacy, to express anger, and to humiliate. Then the slang found is categorized again according to the factor of the presence of the slang.
