Editorial Policy

This policy describes the guidelines and standards governing the publication process for Intellectia: Interactive Journal of English Education and Teaching Innovations, published by CV Alma Media Intellectia. The journal strives to adhere strictly to international standards established by the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).

Authorship Criteria & Contributions

An author is an individual who has significantly contributed to the development of a manuscript. Intellectia recommends that authorship be based on the following four criteria:

  1. Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work, or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work.

  2. Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content.

  3. Final approval of the version to be published.

  4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Acknowledgments

Individuals who participated in the development of a manuscript but do not qualify as authors should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section. Organizations, institutions, or grants that provided support in terms of funding, resources, or facilities must also be explicitly acknowledged.

Changes in Authorship

Whenever there is a need to make changes in authorship (adding, removing, or reordering authors) prior to or after publication, changes will be implemented in accordance with COPE guidelines. Requests for authorship changes must be submitted by the corresponding author to the Editor-in-Chief using an official written request, accompanied by written confirmation/consent from all listed authors.

Manuscript Submission

  • Authors must read the Author Guidelines on the journal's website prior to submission.

  • Manuscripts must be prepared according to the structure, template, and formatting specifications of Intellectia.

  • All authors listed on the manuscript must meet the authorship criteria above and approve the final version of the manuscript prior to submission.

  • Full contact information (full name, institutional affiliation, email address, and ORCID iD where available) for all authors must be provided upon submission.

Conflict of Interest

A conflict of interest (COI) exists when financial, personal, or professional relationships inappropriately influence or bias the author's, editor's, or reviewer's judgment and actions.

  • Authors: Must disclose any financial support, grants, or personal/institutional relationships that could be perceived as a potential COI in the manuscript.

  • Reviewers: Must disclose any COI and decline to review a manuscript if they feel unable to provide an unbiased evaluation due to competitive, collaborative, or personal ties.

  • Editors: Must recuse themselves from managing any manuscript where a COI exists. Such manuscripts will be reassigned to another member of the editorial board.

Confidentiality

All submitted manuscripts are treated as strictly confidential documents. Intellectia and CV Alma Media Intellectia will not disclose submitted manuscripts or their contents to anyone other than necessary editorial staff, corresponding authors, and assigned peer reviewers. In cases of suspected research misconduct, a manuscript may be shared with members of Intellectia’s ethics committee or institutional authorities to resolve the issue.

Peer Review Process

Intellectia operates a double-blind peer-review system:

  • Author identities, affiliations, contact information, and acknowledgments are removed from the manuscript before sending it to reviewers.

  • Manuscripts are evaluated by at least two independent expert reviewers using the journal's official evaluation rubric.

  • Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive feedback to assist the editors in making a publication decision.

Editorial Freedom & Board Membership

  • Editorial Freedom: CV Alma Media Intellectia protects the independence of the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board. Editorial decisions to accept or reject manuscripts are based solely on academic merit, validity, and ethical compliance, free from commercial or institutional interference.

  • Editorial Board Membership: Prospective board members must hold a Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) or equivalent academic standing, have a demonstrated track record of scholarly publications in English language education, literature, or applied linguistics, and commit to conducting timely peer reviews.

Misconduct, Corrections, and Retractions

  • Publication Misconduct: Violations of ethical standards (such as plagiarism, data fabrication/falsification, duplicate submission, or uncredited authorship) will be investigated according to COPE flowcharts.

  • Corrections & Retractions: If errors or inaccuracies are identified post-publication, Intellectia will publish Corrigenda (author errors) or Errata (publisher errors). In cases of serious ethical violations or flawed data that invalidate the conclusions, articles will be formally retracted following COPE Retraction Guidelines.
